Amaewhule’s Assembly Sacks Rivers Commissioners Appointed By Fubara


 It is obvious that the process for the eventual impeachment of the Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara by the House of Assembly now dominated by allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, is taking the speed of light.

This is as the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Martins Amaewhule issued another letter to the Governor demanding the sack of all 19 commissioners and political appointees who were not screened by him and a fresh list of nominees be forwarded to the Assembly for proper screening.

Reports indicate that the protesters gathered at the assembly gate as early as 8:00 am, coinciding with the resumption of plenary and the scheduled hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.
However, police officers deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd, citing the need to prevent a potential breakdown of law and order.

Nigeria Banks Begin Charging ₦100 On ATM Withdrawals , ₦600 For On-Site

 Commercial banks across Nigeria have commenced charging customers N100 per N20,000 withdrawal from their on-site Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and N600 for off-site ATM following a directive issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This development was announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria in a circular dated February 10, 2025 on the review of ATM transaction fees, scheduled for implementation from today, March 1, 2025.

Low Turnout Of Voters As Governor Adeleke Votes In Osun LG Election

 


The local government election in Osun on Saturday witnessed poor turnout of the electorate in the state. Correspondents of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who monitored the election in some local governments, report that there was no presence of ad hoc staff of the State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) in polling units visited.

In Osogbo, some of the polling units located at Ogo-Oluwa, Alekunwodo, Olaiya, Oja-Oba, among others, were devoid of electorate, OSSIEC staff and security personnel as of 9:15 am.
